What to put on a coffee house menu

  1. 1

    Coffee

Explain each drink. Few guests know a Melange from an Einspänner.

  2. 2

    Cakes and pastries

Say they're baked in house, and which ones are served warm.

  3. 3

    Meals

Two or three classics, like schnitzel or goulash, with the hours they're served.

  4. 4

    Wine

A few Austrian wines by the glass, each with its region, like Wachau.

  5. 5

    Breakfast

If you serve it, give it its own section with its hours.

Before you print the QR code

  • Every coffee has a line saying what's in it.
  • Dishes that take time, like Kaiserschmarrn, say how long.
  • The time hot food stops is on the menu, like "until eleven".

Edits go live on the same link, so a printed code keeps working. Read the setup guide

Questions about a coffee house menu

What's the difference between a coffee house and a café?

A Viennese coffee house is built for staying. Guests sit for hours over one coffee, so it serves full meals too.

Should I use the German names?

Yes. Regulars order by those names, and they're part of the style. The line under each name explains the drink.

Should the menu mention the glass of water?

Yes, if you serve one. It's a Viennese custom, and the note tells visitors the water comes with the coffee.
